Its interesting this morning to see Bloomberg clamber over Apples billions in cash like children waiting for the inheritance to arrive.

I’m not surprised that Apple hold onto their cash knowing how fragile and fickle the IT industry can be, just as quickly as it made the billions it could quite easily lose billions overnight, you only have to look at what happened with blackberry when it was dancing around trying to work out whether to move into the touch interface or stay with the keys, it started losing ground very quickly with the bankruptcy word being mentioned.

What I would like to see done with Apple’s billions in cash, is

  1. They invest in software that helps business migrate to Apple, I have met many companies that have wished to go all Apple but have held back due to the lack of accounting and admin software they can feel confident in. people are also very loyal to outlook, but the main reason for this is is that outlook has mail calendar contacts all under one roof instead of having to flick between apps like you have to do with Apple mail iCal and contacts. If Apple merged these apps into one program they might be able to make more ground in the business world.

  1. Cloud for family and for business, the cloud system works very well for individuals, but still fails to support the group, not just in business where you admin your users but at the home as well where families need to control their children’s accounts especially as I’ve seen children as young as three have their own iPad.

  1. As much as Apple seems to focus all its attentions these days to iPad & iPhone, the thing that creates them and software for them the desktop is being left behind, Apple’s desktops are the best in the business the stability of the operating system and the engineering and materials used are second to none. These devices are what’s used to create the software for the iPad and iPhone, they are the devices editing movies, creating music and editing pictures, so why leave them behind we still very much so need them for the creative industry and more and more for business.

  1. On iPads, it would be great to see a giant table sized iPad, it doesn’t have to be the latest technology all the longest battery life as it can run under mains power. The technology as it is, is perfect, it would just be great to have a massive touch screen for expression, especially in the music world where you could have more the programs opened up rather than having to flip between pages of settings and in the graphics world where you need to lay things out lightly used to making magazine spreads collages. maybe this screen could be an expansion to any existing iPad or its an ipad on its own. but lastly Apple doesn’t need to release it as the next big thing to take over the world, but as another product in the series of iPads.

  2. I once used the Microsoft table size touchscreen, it was in the Sheraton hotel in New York and it just run one app, which was a picture app that allowed you to arrange images, I was glued to this thing for a long time, being so large it also makes others feel as if they can be part of the fun as well, as iPads are for the individual, the table is for the group.
